Our Sunday School and Youth Group lessons for this week are based off of Esther 1.

Verse of the Week: “If it please the king, let a royal order go out from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes so that it may not be repealed, that Vashti is never again to come before King Ahasuerus. And let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she."
Esther 1:19

Here are a few questions you can ask your kids to help engage with them throughout the week:

1. Has there ever been a time when you felt you needed to stand up to someone more powerful than you? Why? How did that go?

2. How have you been surprised by God's hidden providence in your life? Do you have any stories or examples of His kindness over the years?

3. What about living in this Persian Empire might have been difficult for an ancient Israelite?

4. Are there any parallels to your own experience as a Christian living in a non-Christian society?

Main Takeaway: Even in the midst of a lavish pagan empire filled with drunkenness, sexism, and abuses of power, God is at work on behalf of His people.
