Our Sunday School and Youth Group lessons for this week are based off of Esther 6.

Verse of the Week: “And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.”Esther 6:13

Here are a few questions you can ask your kids to help engage with them throughout the week:

1. C.S. Lewis says that not only is pride universal, but that "Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man.... It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone." Where is this true in your life? Where do you see pride manifesting itself in you?

2. In your own words, summarize the ways God has been at work in this story. What does this tell you about how God operates? How might He be working similarly in your own life today?

3. Who is someone in your life who embodies humility? Why do you think they come across as so humble? If you are able, consider reaching out to them to talk about this theme of pride.

4. Parents, how can you identify with Haman's pride in this story? Can you think of a time when God humbled you in the midst of your pride?

5. As a family, ask one another: Do you perceive me as a proud person? Why or why not?

6. What are ways you have seen God at work in your family over the past year, even if He is at work in the shadows?

Main Takeaway: In the words of Jesus, "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted" (Mt 23:12).
